THERMAL
DEBURRING
Thermal Deburring is a process that
is ideal for removing burrs in difficult to reach
areas, such as those in machined and die cast
parts. With the exception of magnesium, the thermal
process is conducive for all types are metal.
In the Thermal Deburring process,
heat is used to Deburr or Deflash parts. After
sealing parts in a closed chamber, fuel and oxygen
are ignited to generate combustion as an energy
source for processing. During the combustion process,
the short burst of intense heat affects all surfaces
inside the chamber. Excess oxygen combines with
the burrs to create an oxide powder until the
temperature of each burr drops below the ignition
point as the flame reaches the main body of the
part. The oxidation lasts a very short time and
does not significantly change the part's dimension
or metallurgy.
Thermal Deburring has the exceptional
ability of removing burrs and flash without affecting
the original metal surfaces.
