We remove rust or scale caused by natural and mechanical effects, returning everything to original condition or to prepare for our secondary finishing.
Comprehensive Solutions For Flawless Finish
We work with you to choose the best method for descaling based on your specifications and other requirements. We have numerous processes for effectively and efficiently removing scale.
Grit and Bead Blast Finishing – We clean or prepare metals and plastics for other finishing operations using high-speed abrasive media streams that thoroughly remove rust, scale, and other contaminants.
Vibratory Deburring – Combined with various types of media, our vibratory and tumbler equipment removes heat-treated scale from steel and stainless steel. An oxidation inhibitor may be necessary following this process.
Shot Blasting – We use precision equipment for shot blasting, also called shot peening, to descale parts, deburr, or render parts to meet your unique specifications, including texturing, aesthetics, and more.
Where Precision Finishing Begins
Careful descaling plays a critical role in preparing materials for other finishing processes. Quality descaling ensures the best results during the next stage, including pre-welding, post-welding, electropolishing, plating and painting.
Passivation – Our process for descaling and cleaning stainless steel improves corrosion resistance and removes foreign particulates, leaving the surface clean without changing its appearance.
Electropolishing – The method removes scale, impurities, imperfections, and burrs from the surface of the metal objects, replacing traditional mechanical grinding, buffing, milling, and blasting.
Industrial scale removal solutions is one method for pretreating metals for other finishing processes, including passivation, electropolishing, radiusing, and plating. It also helps increase tool life.
The different types of descaling offered by Arrow are:
- Abrasive blasting
- Vibratory Finishing
- Chemical Descaling
- Shot Blasting
- Grit and Bead Blasting
Descaling is often used prior to the following applications:
**Prior to welding, it is critical that weld joints and parts are free of mill scale and other contaminants.**
Arrow also offers premium descaling services for cosmetic descaling to ensure cleanliness with stringent specifications.
